I have salvaged discarded, functional objects and have given them a life their designers never intended - a life as form rather than function. The viewer is invited to see these somewhat familiar objects in a very different light. I have often altered or combined objects to give them a more interesting aspect and to remove them one step further from function. Then I paint the surface of the piece in a complimentary way - considering the color, texture and form of the objects displayed on the surface or in cubbyholes.
By rescuing these everyday objects from oblivion and creating for them a life of leisure and beauty, I am giving the viewer, who may have valued them only for their function a chance to value them for their aesthetic qualities.
